Collage.com is a small, profitable, 100% bootstrapped company with about 40 employees that has rapidly grown from $0 to $22 million in annual revenue over the past five years. We’re looking for ambitious, nice individuals to join us in our quest to bring great custom products to the world.
We believe in giving our employees the autonomy and resources to do their jobs well. People are happiest and most effective when they have control over their own working conditions. We trust our team and give them the freedom to make decisions that impact our company and customers. We even offer flexible work hours, since everyone works best at different times. Learn more about what we value as a company.
We believe placing our employees’ and customers’ interests before our own is the key to building long-lasting relationships – even if it involves a short-term cost. This is why we offer stock options to all employees, encourage a healthy work-life balance, and offer a no-questions-asked satisfaction guarantee on all customer orders.
We don’t believe in just going through the motions. We’ll give you the resources you need to do an excellent job, and we’ll surround you with great people – but we have high expectations, and hope you do too. We believe in constantly improving all aspects of our business, and never settling for “good enough.”
Oh yeah: we don’t have an office. And we don’t have any plans to get one. Why? Well, do you like commuting? We don’t. Collage.com is recognized as a national leader in remote work. See why in a recent interview our co-founder Joe Golden did with Remote.co.
We don’t have a ping-pong table or in-office masseuse. What we do have – and what’s most important – is a work environment that respects and promotes a healthy work-life balance. Michigan’s largest news site recently featured our co-founder Kevin Borders’ op-ed, “Perks, schmerks: The one thing that really matters about company culture.”
If you want to work with motivated, smart people, Collage.com is the place for you. We’ve built a company culture where the best ideas win out on their own merits – not just based on the title or credentials of whoever came up with a good idea. Our team is led by co-founders with prior experience at Microsoft and Google. Our team includes four Ph.Ds, but good ideas can come from anywhere. If you want to work with people who have exceptionally high standards and care about doing things the best way they can be done, you’ll want to work at Collage.com.
Some jobs aren’t that fulfilling. Collage.com is different: we make software and products that people truly love. One leading executive told Forbes last year that our fleece photo blankets were a “priceless” gift that brought “so much joy.” We hear stories like this all the time. If you want to work at a company that truly makes people happy, you should want to work at Collage.com.
"I like having the autonomy to implement ideas in the way I feel is best. My judgement is trusted and respected."
- Julian Kussman, Development
"Collage.com surrounds you with people who do good work, because everyone loves the work they do. From day one, I felt like a welcomed and valued member of the team."
- Kristina McLane, Marketing
"We aren't limited by titles and roles. Everyone is empowered to make decisions and have an impact."
- Chris Egner, Development
Collage.com is a technology company. Our main advantage is providing the best software for designing and purchasing photo products, which can be a complex and challenging process. The key to maintaining this advantage is investing in cutting-edge technology and engineering practices throughout the company, starting at the top.
Our founders have Ph. Ds in economics and computer science, and prior experience developing software at Google and Microsoft. Everyone in engineering management is an experienced developer who knows how to build great software. Members of the development team are surrounded by peers who are knowledgeable, helpful, and have a passion for constant improvement. We continually challenge ourselves to make Collage.com better for customers, increase our efficiency, and realize our full potential as engineers.
All of our job interviews are over the phone or Skype/Google Hangouts, so you won’t need to travel or block off large amounts of time for multiple interviews in one day. We’re happy to schedule interviews outside of regular business hours, too. Typically, our interviews begin with the people you’d be working with directly, including your manager. Applicants advancing to the final round of interviews also talk with one or both of our company’s founders. For development jobs, we don’t ask any brain teaser questions, but do provide a short take-home coding assignment that is directly relevant to the job, so we can measure your skills outside of our standard interviews.
Collage.com’s unique company culture and history was featured in Corp! Magazine last year.
Not many $20+ million technology companies get started as a way to make an anniversary gift. But then again, Collage.com isn’t like most companies. Learn about how we got started.
Collage.com has been featured on national television multiple times: we’ve been on “Good Morning America” 8 times now, the “TODAY Show” 3 times, and “The View” once. Stay tuned in 2016 for more! Check out some of our recent media appearances on the Collage.com blog.
We talk a lot about pleasing customers – and that’s not just talk. We’re proud to be certified as a Google Trusted Store, and have a 4.8/5-star rating from the thousands of verified customer reviews on that site. See for yourself!
