Back-end Software Engineer

The Job

We are seeking a software engineer to become our primary back-end developer. Making a good collage is hard. It requires complex algorithms, data structures, and systems integration. We want a developer with a passion for helping people do amazing things with software.

Location  Washington, DC or Ann Arbor, MI

Pay  Competitive Salary + Generous Equity

Required Skills

• Expert in object-oriented programming and relevant design patterns (e.g., MVC)
• Expert in PHP and MySQL
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and time/space complexity
• Working knowledge of C++
• Algebra/trigonometry (cosine is not just a way to get a loan with bad credit)

Nice to Have

• Proficient in Objective C, Java, Javascript, CSS, and HTML
• Working knowledge of graphic design (shadows, contrast, layout, etc.)
• Full-stack software integration (e.g., how to invoke your C++ program from a PHP script loaded by AJAX)
• Image processing/rendering experience (filters, fonts, vector graphics, etc.)
